Overview for the Leica Builder 500 3 Second Reflectorless Total Station

The Leica Builder 500 (3-Second) Reflectorless Total Station boasts exceptional performance and outstanding features that allow you to carry out even the most complex measurement tasks better and more efficiently than ever before. Built for speed, accuracy, ease-of-use and reliability, the Leica 500 will enable you to save money and improve productivity without sacrificing quality.

Superior Data Storage

The Leica Geosystems Total Station gives you numerous options for transferring and storing data. Store up to 50,000 points in internal memory, or save to an external device such as a PDA, Handheld Data Collector or PC through the mini USB port, via Bluetooth, or through a simple RS232 serial port.

Choose From a Variety of Distance Measuring Options

Choose the method that suits you best when preparing to measure distances with your Leica Electronic Total Station. The Builder 500 features a full range of distance measuring options, allowing you to choose reflectorless measurement, red dot measurement to the included flat prism, or full prism measurement using the included Builder Prism. You can also extend the distance measurement range to 10,000 feet by adding a round prism to the total station.

Measure Extreme Ranges With Utmost Accuracy

Use the patented PinPoint technology for accurate measurement to wall corners, inaccessible objects, roof faces, roofs, facades, and walls inside buildings. The PinPoint's tightly bundled laser is ideal for taking measurements to locations where it would be too difficult to set up a reflector, since Leica's optical laser marks the target point exactly with a small red dot, instead of measuring the area around the target, as standard lasers do.

You can even take very long distance measurements by combining the PinPoint laser with a prism. Either way, you won't need to undergo complex routines in order to get the data you need: the Leica Builder Total Station takes measurements directly, giving you instant results.

Quick Setup

It's easy to get started with the Leica Builder Total Station, even if you're a novice. Follow the setup wizard as it guides you through the process of setting up: level the builder, define your control line, enter offset values from your plan, and set out or record the points. You can also choose a setup position using control lines or coordinates, or setup with an exising or preset axis as the reference line. This allows you to work with line and offset values straight from your original plan, so you can take measurements quickly and easily.

Intuitive Interface

The Leica 500 Builder Total Station's control panel is simple to understand and use, allowing you to get the measurements you need quickly and easily. The 6-line LCD graphic display is easy to read, even in the dark, thanks to the illuminated keyboard and display. Status icons featured prominently on the display allow you to check battery status and the compensator, while the QWERTY keyboard makes alphanumeric input fast and fumble-free. Browse the program menu for the command you need, or use the programmable softkeys to ensure immediate access to those application programs that you use most frequently.

Versatile and Easy to Learn Software

The Leica Builder features Powersite Software, a powerful software application designed to help you make taking even the most difficult measurements quick and error-free. Combined with the Construction Data Manager, a Windows-based application that facilitates transfer of data and firmware upload, you'll be sure to instantly increase productivity by using one or more of the nine pre-loaded software functions:

Layout Function: Check the alignment of columns, formworks, and fencing lines, and ensure against racking in greenhouses or other structures.

Area and Volume: Ideal for tender preparations of all kind. Check the fit for windows, the volume of asphalt needed for a parking lot, or simply capture aligned surfaces on the spot. Get fast volume determination of stockpile monitoring, cutting to formation, and mass haul cuts and fills, allowing you to keep tabs on your earthworks progress as the day progresses.

As-Built: Use the as-built function to ensure your blueprints are up to date and reflect the latest changes. With PowerSite, you can instantly transfer and update new data, or record measurements for drafting a completely new blueprint.

Hidden Point: Obtain measurements for points not directly visible with the hidden point function; PowerSite software reveals the position of the hidden point, total station, and reflector in just a few steps.

Angle and Distance: Check the height clearance under a bridge, mark ground floor elevations, and transfer reference heights in one work step.

Tie distance: Used to compute horizontal distance, height difference, and grade between two target points, tie distance is the perfect solution for figuring out whether or not there is a clearance under a roof for that crane, or checking the drainage of a grade.

Coordinate Geometry Calculations: A graphical display on the control panel shows the position of the station, used new points, directions, distances, and the new calculated point, allowing you to easily figure out this normally complicated measurement.

Layout Line/Arc/Spiral: Easily plot the lines for a road or spiral staircase; the PowerSite software allows you to stake out and check points relative to a road alignment.

Your Leica Builder Total Station comes complete with a true-zero offset Builder prism and mini prism pole with replaceable tip. Also included is a Leica industrial grade USB memory stick, and data cable USB to mini USB for secure data transfer. Two Li-Ion batteries with charger give you nearly 20 hours of use, ensuring you don't have to stop in the middle of a job to change batteries. You also get several adjustment tools to keep your Leica Total Station measuring accurately, a protective cover and lens hood to keep out dust or other destructive elements while taking a break onsite, and a hard carrying case to carry the Leica Builder and accessories.PowerSite software will boost your productivity, allowing you to take accurate measurements in less than half the time.

Once you experience the superior features and ease of use of the Leica Builder 500 (3-Second) Reflectorless Total Station, you'll wonder how you ever managed without it.
